Find Root Canal Abroad with Make Medical Trip
What is Root Canal Treatment?
The history of root canal treatment, or endodontic therapy, stretches back centuries and addresses one of the most common problems in dental practice. Root canal pain and root canal infection occur with the invasion of bacteria in the tooth, usually due to tooth decay, leaking fillings, or impact trauma. Root canal treatment is required when the center of the tooth, or the pulp, has been damaged by infection. Symptoms include pain whilst eating or drinking in the early stages, or gum swelling, oozing pus, and darkening of the tooth in more advanced stages of infection. If you recognize these symptoms, Make Medical Trip lists a variety of clinics offering root canal treatment, providing procedures to address all stages of infection.
Examples of root canal procedures can include full tooth extraction, or simply removing the infected root canal system in an attempt to save the tooth. Pain is minimal, with local anaesthetic applied. Root canal treatment is generally successful – 9 times out of 10, a tooth can remain healthy for up to 10 years. If conventional treatment fails, Apicoectomy (root end surgery), may be suggested. An endodontic surgery technique, Apicoectomy removes the tip of the tooth, which is then filled with a cavity. Apicoectomy treatment is available at a number of Make Medical Trip listed clinics, as are alternatives such as tooth extraction.

Recommended for
Root canal treatment is recommended for any tooth that has severe damage to the pulp and nerve tissue, but can be saved. Most dentists will recommend root canal treatment over removing a tooth, as it is important to preserve natural teeth whenever possible.
Time Requirements
Average length of stay abroad 2 – 5 days. Some patients need 2 appointments, for example if the tooth has several roots. Patients may also stay longer to have a custom post and core or crown fitted.

Before Your Treatment
To check for suitability for a root canal procedure, the dentist is likely to X-ray the affected tooth, and perform a pulp test to check the tooth for a healthy response.
How is it Performed
After establishing that a root canal is necessary, the dentist will numb the area and cover it with a rubber dam to prevent infection and keep the area dry for the duration of the procedure. The dentist will then make a small hole at the top of the infected tooth and the pulp is removed from the chambers and canals of the tooth. The chambers and canals are widened to provide sufficient room for a root canal filling, and then the tooth is filled. For patients requiring two appointments, in the first sitting, the tooth is hollowed and a temporary filling is fitted, at the second appointment, the permanent filling is fitted.
Materials
Root canal fillings use a range of materials, and the specific materials used vary from clinic to clinic. The most typically used materials include tooth sealant, zinc oxide-eugenol, resins, calcium hydroxide and glass ionomers. Most commonly used materials for the obdurate include solids, semi-solids and pastes, depending on the type of cavity.
Anesthesia
Local anesthetic.
Procedure Duration
The Root Canal takes 2 to 4 hours.
Alternative to Root Canal Treatment
If a tooth extraction is deemed the best option, tooth functionality can be preserved with a dental implant or dental bridge, a serviced offered by numerous clinics on the Make Medical Trip platform.
